Root Canals

Dr. Richer and Dr. Rivera want you to enjoy your visit, even for this procedure. The doctors have years of experience and education in this area with a fine management of your anesthesia.

Root canal therapy is now not only tolerable, nearly completely painless. It can be done at R+R Dental instead of referred elsewhere, and they can even have most patients done in one hour.

We will show you and education animation to take the fear our of the root canal treatment.

We first ensure that the tooth is adequately numbed and then we place a "dental dam" over the tooth so that the oral fluid does not seed bacteria back within the tooth we are attempting to disinfect. We will make a small access hole through the top of the tooth. From this point we begin disinfecting and shaping the inside of the tooth root. We use a series of instruments to accomplish the task. Once we have located, enlarged, and disinfected all of the canals, we will take x-rays to verify our completed work. Once verified, we will place and cement the permanent filling material within the root. Most often, a temporary filling will be placed within the hole and you will return within a week to perform your crown preparation. Most all root canal treated teeth will need a crown for its protection from biting. Root canals may be performed in 1 or 2 appointments. The dentist will determine if it will be 1 or 2 appointments at the first appointment. After the appointment, the dental assistant will review your post op instructions and home care instructions. Medication will be given to you if indicated.
